Fortis has been recognised for health and safety excellence at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)’s 70th Anniversary Awards

April 9, 2026

Fortis has received a RoSPA Order of Distinction Award for 17 consecutive Gold Awards, demonstrating its commitment to the highest standards in accident prevention.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, which began as a small event to recognise the achievements of companies prioritising the safety of workers in UK, and has now grown into the biggest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme in the world, with the 2026 awards attracting 2,000 different entries from nearly 60 countries.

Entrants to the RoSPA Awards come from organisations of all sizes, ranging from SMEs to blue chip companies. As well as offering non-competitive achievement awards – in which Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merits are awarded – entrants can bid to be crowned the winner across a range of industry sectors such as construction, manufacturing and entertainment, all judged by leading experts.

The application process enables entrants to enhance their health and safety standards by encouraging reflecting practice, which contributes to continuing professional development (CPD), and emphasising the importance of ongoing learning to reducing workplace accidents. In receiving a RoSPA Award, Fortis becomes part of a proud legacy of organisations dedicated to keeping workers and the public safe.

Steven Laight, HSQE Manager commented: “Thank you to all our staff. This achievement recognises your ongoing commitment to compliance and your valuable contributions to maintaining high health and safety standards across all sites. Key site health and safety activities, such as point-of-task risk assessments, regular H&S meetings, daily RPE maintenance records and the issuing of signed toolbox talks, continue to provide essential evidence supporting this award.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, said: “RoSPA congratulates Fortis on its RoSPA Health and Safety Award. The high standards Fortis has achieved are the result of hard work and dedication, of which Fortis should be rightfully proud and which RoSPA is delighted to honour.  2026 is a landmark year for the RoSPA Awards as we reflect on how far workplace safety has come in 70 years. It is because of the commitment of health and safety leaders like Fortis, that people today are safer at work than in the past, and sets an inspiring example for the future.”
