David works closely with our site teams to introduce standardised ways of controlling and improving day-to-day operations, whilst also implementing effective ways to run new projects and commission new equipment.
“Having worked as a Process Development Engineer and then Project Manager in highly regulated industries for over 17 years (Medical Device Manufacture for 15 years and Automotive for another 2 years), joining Fortis threw me into a completely new industry, where there is a totally different mindset and way of doing things. My aim at Fortis has been to introduce standardised ways of controlling and improving our day-to-day operations, whilst also implementing effective ways to run new projects and commission new equipment.
Being part of the team that introduced our ‘Upskilling Commitment’ (Continuous Improvement / Six Sigma Apprenticeship Scheme) into the business has been very rewarding. By implementing the most appropriate process controls and monitoring techniques, the site teams are able to own and make decisions based on actual data. As a result of the changes, we are seeing real improvements across our sites.
The most exciting thing about Fortis is the fact they strive to be industry leaders. We are continually researching the newest and upcoming technologies and we implement only the very best. Also, the recycling industry is evolving rapidly and is playing an ever increasing role in sustainability and our circular economy. New EFW’s continue to gain consents and approval across the U.K, so there’s never been a better time to work in this forward thinking, rapidly growing industry.”
